I have experienced anxiety most of my life. While anxiety can push one to give their best performance or stay sharp in their skills, it can also have a crippling effect a poor sleep, digestive issues, weight loss or weight gain, racing thoughts/heartbeat and even depression. Yes, we can put a conscious effort into practicing good habits to help reduce anxiety less caffeine, less/no alcohol, journaling, exercise, meditation, good eating habits then there’s plant mediice nootropics and adaptogens. Nootropics work to enhance brain health and cognitive performance, whereas adaptogens focus on reducing both mental and physical stress. As part of my continued research, I have been spending a significant amount of effort researching the benefits of fungi and am simply amazed with what I have learned. As a result, I have started incorporating them into my daily regime.
I consume a 5-mushroom blend in my morning coffee on a daily basis before I exercise a blend of lion’s mane, cordyceps, turkey tail, reishi and chaga. I have happily replaced my afternoon coffee with a mushroom blend alternative. I microdose according to the Fadiman Protocol (1 day on, 2 days off). My results thus far? Time has slowed down. I am less edgy and feel like I handle stressful situations much, much better. I feel more present as a parent and enjoy so much more the time I spend with my daughter. I have more patience. I sleep better and longer. My overall anxiety has decreased and I feel more balanced in my life.
